EXPERIENCE
Alex’s passion for physical therapy began through her own experience as a competitive gymnast. After struggling with a low back injury that significantly affected her ability to train and compete, physical therapy became essential in allowing her to continue participating in the sport she loved. Having a physical therapist who understood her goals, recognized the demands of her sport, and remained invested in helping her continue to compete had a lasting impact on Alex. That experience not only extended her own athletic career, but ultimately inspired her to pursue physical therapy and provide that same level of support and individualized care for others.
Alex has dedicated her career to outpatient orthopedics, with clinical interests in sports and dance rehabilitation, return-to-sport, post-operative rehabilitation, and spine conditions. She has continued to advance her clinical expertise through post-professional training in orthopedic manual physical therapy, earning her OMPT certification from Oakland University in 2023. She particularly enjoys cases that require a deeper understanding of movement and biomechanics to identify the underlying factors contributing to pain or limiting movement and performance. Her background in athletic training, advanced orthopedic manual therapy, and movement-based fitness allows her to approach rehabilitation from multiple perspectives and tailor treatment to the individual needs and goals of each patient.
Alex believes every patient deserves to feel heard and understood. Her approach looks beyond symptoms to identify the mobility, strength, movement, and biomechanical factors contributing to each person’s limitations. She combines advanced manual therapy, individualized exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and education to help patients return to the sport, activities, and life they love with greater strength and confidence.
PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT
Alex has been a Pure Barre instructor for seven years and continues to actively teach alongside her clinical practice. She has also completed STOTT Pilates Reformer training. Her experience teaching movement and exercise has strengthened her understanding of biomechanics, motor control, strength, mobility, and exercise progression. She integrates these principles into her clinical practice to help patients progress beyond rehabilitation and build the strength, control, and confidence needed for sport, fitness, and everyday life.
